There are more than 1.6 billion people in the world who suffer from anemia. Young girls and women commonly have this problem. Several conditions such as pregnancy or cancer may also develop the risk of having Anemia. Iron

One of the most important nutrients whose deficiency needs to be fulfilled is iron. Some of the best sources of iron rich food that can be taken into the diet are fortified cereals, oatmeals, lentils, beans, spinach, etc. If you are a non-vegetarian then you can also add chicken, beef liver, Turkey meat, red meat and seafood into your diet.

Folate

The second most important nutrient is folate which is in the form of folic acid. Males along with females required at least 400 micrograms of dietary folate equivalent per day. Foods that are rich in Folate are lentils, spinach, asparagus, etc. If you are a non-vegetarian then you can also add eggs, beef liver and fish into your diet. Fortified cereals and breads are also a good source of folic acid and hence can be taken in as a breakfast item.

Vitamin b12

The next important nutrient that is highly required in the body is vitamin b12. A Study shows that the body of an adult needs at least 2.4 MCG of Vitamin b12 per day. The two best sources of vitamin D are beef liver and clamps. But if you are vegetarian try having at least dairy products in your diet to increase the b12 content in the body. Vitamin b12 is also available in the form of supplements and hence can be taken but only after the consultation from the doctor. Other good sources of vitamin B 12 are fish, meat, poultry, eggs, etc.

Treatment of anemia

Treatment of anemia depends upon the reason that is developing into your body causing it. As we know that Anemia may develop due to inadequate amounts of iron, vitamin b12 and folate in the body. In many cases vitamin B12 is not able to be absorbed that easily into the body and doctors may suggest injections of vitamin B12. If you are facing any of such problems then it becomes very important for you to consult your doctor. The doctor or the nutritionist might suggest you proper amount of vitamins, nutrients and supplements which will help you to recover from Anemia. Many doctors even use erythropoietin injections which increases the red blood cell production. In serious conditions, blood transfusion can also be done in order to cure it. Keeping the diet balanced and having an overall check over the nutrient uptake is the best way to prevent and to cure Anemia.
